The orphanage boasts of more than 200,000 visitors each year. The park opens it’s gates at sunrise and operates till the sun sets in the east, maximizing on the number of visitors it receives on a day.
Opened in 1964, Nairobi Animal Orphanage is the oldest of its kind in Kenya. It serves as a training ground for rangers and is a temporary home to more than 20 animals and bird species as they receive the care they need. Herbivores you are likely to see include buffalos, warthogs, and baboons while carnivores include lions, rare Sokoke cat, hyenas, cheetahs and more. Parrots, crown crane, guinea fowl are some of the birds on site.
